Two-wire door entry systems are becoming increasingly popular with installers who seek a quick and easy install compared to traditional-wired systems on the market. Given the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we acknowledge all those who may want to be on site for as little time as possible.
There are a number of reasons why two-wire systems are easy to install:
- If there is an existing installation in place, you can replace with a two- wire or traditional five-wire system. If your existing installation is a two-wire system, then you keep the original wiring. Traditional wiring requires more cabling.
- If you existing installation is a traditional five-wire system, then you can still use this wiring for your two-wire system because you can double up on the cores.
- Installing a two-wire system instead of a traditional five-wire system is easier because there are only two cores to identify in your wiring diagram. For installations with non-polarised two-wire systems,

Fermax UK in partnership with Harrisons security services have successfully installed our pioneering new 2-Wire Duox technology into a 15 block residential complex in East London to the delight of residents. Otter Close is a large residential development comprising over a 100 apartments.
The challenge was to upgrade an old audio system to enable residents to have the benefit of the new Fermax VEO DUOX video monitor without incurring the cost and disruption of re-cabling. The solution was to retro-fit VEO DUOX video monitors and high grade 316 Stainless steel Marine Panels to allow for a seamless upgrade.
Otter Close residents were offered the option of audio or audio-video handsets using only two cores of the existing cable infrastructure.
