Vicon 994850 FMC-RK 14-Slot Card Cage is a rack-mount chassis that powers and houses up to 14 FMC media converters, providing centralised fibre network management in a 19-inch rack.

A qualified technician installs the card cage by securing the 19-inch mounting ears to a server rack or cabinet and connecting the detachable IEC power cord to a 90-264 VAC source. Media converter modules are then inserted into the fourteen available slots; the hot-swappable design allows these modules to be added or replaced without powering down the entire chassis. During daily operation, the internal power supply distributes 9 VDC across the backplane, while the unique per-slot electronic current limiting ensures that a failure in one module does not impact the performance of the others. This system is ideally suited for security head-ends, data centres, and traffic control hubs where multiple fibre links must be consolidated into a single, reliable point of distribution.
