The Category 5E cable we supply is all copper. Be aware that many Category 5 cables can be tin, steel, or aluminium with a copper finish. These cheaper inferior quality cables will have a dramatic impact on cable performace, and therefore may prevent your installation from performing as expected.

Bending radius

Most Category 5 cables can be bent at any radius exceeding approximately four times the outside diameter of the cable. In practise this mean no tighter than 30mm radius.

Category 5 vs. 5E

The CAT 5E specification improves upon the CAT-5 specification by tightening some crosstalk specifications and introducing new crosstalk specifications that were not present in the original CAT 5 specification. The bandwidth of category 5 and 5E is the same - 100 MHz.

The outer carton provides protection for both the cable and inner packaging, and allows for easy storage, stacking and movement of goods. When installing simply remove the perforated letter carton strip from the box front and pull two cables as normal from the box. Where necessary the outer carton can be discarded and the inner - standard 305 metre reelex boxes - used.
