The Bell BSX16 is a specialized central exchange unit designed for buildings with 9 to 16 telephone stations and a single entrance. Unlike common-wired systems, the BSX16 operates on the Line Isolation principle; every telephone is individually cabled back to the control cabinet. This ensures that any malicious damage or short-circuiting of a single handset or cable will not affect the rest of the system. Housed in a secure, lockable IP55-rated steel cabinet, the BSX16 manages all system logic, including timed lock outputs for fail-safe or fail-secure releases, and an integrated tradesmen facility with a 7-day quartz reserve time clock.
