The Bell 719E is a software-modified version of the standard 719S switching unit, specifically engineered to interface with 500H series telephones. In multi-entrance configurations (3 or more doors), the 719E utilizes its modified ENG LAMP outputs to drive the dual LED indicators on the 500H handsets. This allows the resident to see exactly which entrance is calling. When the speech circuit becomes active for a specific entrance, the 719E manages the path selection and triggers the corresponding status lamp. In all other operational respects, it maintains the robust switching capabilities of the 719 series, preventing signal conflict and maintaining speech privacy across the intercom network.
