The surface housing is used in conjunction with the model DX200 solenoid bolt. It is not essential but makes installation easier. The housing is made from highly durable stainless steel and is supplied in two parts, one for the keep plate and one for the lock. When installing it must be exactly aligned with the lock otherwise it will not function.
