The 602 and 603 series differ in that the 602 is also a working telephone, and is also very suitable for solar applications due to its very low power on standby.

The 603 is not a working BT phone, but has some interesting feagures of its own, with voicemail for missed callers, and more critically, unlike the 602, it allows the user to pick up the handset and trigger the door release even when a call is not active (important sometimes for electric gates). However, it is this feature that increases the standby power draw and makes it less suitable for solar powered gates
